All of the wool processing and fiber-cleaning equipment offered by Wool-N-Hooves is hand-crafted and can be altered to the specifications of the customer. Equipment is built of birch plywood (for dimensional stability) and pine from Moscow Mountain. Edges are rounded and smoothed to minimize snagging. Beeswax/olive oil finish is applied where appropriate.
If you have need of equipment not currently offered, there’s a good chance Wool-N-Hooves can build it for you. Contact Wool-N-Hooves.
Important note about shipping: at this time we are marketing our wool processing equipment to areas where we can deliver or have local pickup. If you are interested in purchasing a piece of equipment and live outside the Pacific Northwest, we will work with you on shipping.
Wool processing items currently offered:
Our foot-operated fiber tumbler tumbles the fleece to open it up and remove dirt, plant material and “shorts” — pieces of fiber too short for spinning. Buyer specifies mesh size (3/4″ hex mesh or 1″ square mesh), and may purchase another set of panels for another mesh size. Cage is 36″ long, approximately 24″ diameter. $400 for tumbler and one set of panels. Additional panel set $100. Fixed panel tumbler $350.
The yarn dryer holds skeins of dyed yarn for drying, or can be used for drying fine woolens. Some of our customers have used their dryers as display racks at shows. Insert only the number of rods you need. The rack is collapsible for storage. Approximately 51″ high, 52″ diameter with all rods. $150.
Our skirting table is used to spread out the fleece for cleaning and shaping. Table height and angle are adjustable by changing the leg heights. The top of this table folds in half and the legs come apart in pieces for easy storage and transport. Full height 40″, table approximately 4’x 6′. $300.
